		<description>In my relatives homes that have small children, the floors are covered with little plastic things from China. Every new movie spurts forth another wave of "I want! I want!" They are quickly broken, or replaced by more recent media characters, from wrestlers, to super-heroes, Mutant turtles are still "hot." 
Maybe a secondary issue is over-population, as noted above. In the US, we can have as many kids as we want, regardless of whether we can support, raise, educate them. 
I can only see a positive effect of recession as buying less, and loving more. Your children will be better off.
