<description>i believe that traveling abroad can be good and bad- just as all things. yin and yang
It has brought me to a place to realize how important community, family, being there for one another, living simply etc are in life, and those insights that have motivated me to move to where i grew up and invest in my family and that community. i learn from other beings and cultures, and hopefully i spread some love truth and blessings along the way as well. and man do i feel ALIVE when i travel!! Especially in a situation where i can get involved helping fair trade lines, communication, or setting up ways of helping community or economy become sustainable or grow..
but, on the flip side is not only the payment of TIME, ENERGY, MONEY that is sacraficed, but depending on how folks travel, it can be a huge burden or even life threatening to some places with our bouncing around. especially with the " i will save them" or "we can spread our way of doing things" or "this trip is just for me to show ive been there done that" type of mentalities. yuck yuck.
check out this campaign to DISCOURAGE traveling in burma for those very reasons... http://www.burmacampaign.org.uk/email.html
but then some places need tourism to help thier economy.
such an internal battle for me!! "to travel, or not to travel- that is the question"</description>
