Totally cool concept and another reminder that our answers are HERE and NOW. It's up to us to push them into place fast. I especially love the Butte event - neighborhoods in my home town of Mpls. used to do a similar community effort on Spring clean up - we didn't weigh it, though! Thanks for telling us about this, Jeannie.

I've heard about a part of San Fransisco that collects dog poop and captures the methane gas to use for gas power. I think you have to have a lot of poop, though, to do something worthwile. It takes a ton to heat a home for about 2 hours. Neat concept, though, huh?

The town of Crested Butte, CO holds a poop fest every spring when the snow finally melts. The town collects all of the defrosted stuff & it's taken care of sustainably. It's weighed and recorded every year, and the whole day is a big party for the town. Amazing what a little shift in perspective can accomplish!
