Man Bites Bird
Have you seen the photo moving around recently of the sea bird and it’s stomach contents?
It’s a shocking look at what was found inside a dead albatross from the Hawaiian Islands. This poor bird swallowed more than a half pound of plastic, including what appears to be several bottle caps and a cigarette lighter.
Sierra Magazine captions it with this quote from Art Buchwald,
And Man created the plastic bag and the tin and aluminum can and the cellophane wrapper and the paper plate and the disposable bottle, and this was good becaue man could then take his automobile and buy his food all in one place and he could save that which was good to eat in the refrigerator and throw away that which had no further use. And pretty soon the earth was covered with plastic bags and aluminum cans and paper plates and disposable bottles, and there was nowhere left to sit down or to walk. And Man shook his head and cried, ‘Look at all this God-awful litter.’
P.S. This was written in 1970.

Someday,, some smart Chinaman will figure out how to harvest the plastic floating in the ocean, and the Americans will be behind the eight ball again. I guess we are just to damn arrogant to recycle. So sad.

I have already posted my idea on how to get rid of the garbage patch in the pacific. The same idea could be used anywhere in the oceans there is floating debris or partially submerged debris. It isn’t a how to but maybe someone with the money time and creativity will use the idea and clean up the oceans of what is there now. To prevent further pollution like this, we as people have to stop being so wasteful. It’s hard I know but it can be done. That is why I created my blog, to help people be less wasteful and to help people learn how to do things to help the environment and to help people realize the stuff they are responsible for.

This is so sad. The cynics out there will probably ask why the bird isn’t smart enough to know not to eat garbage. They are probably the same people that think that once you throw something away it disappears. Everyone can make a difference. Everyone.

when mankind is living a ‘disposable’ lifestyle, he really goes for it! Look around the world, & tell me, will the voice of reason be heard?? I doubt it, mankind treats human life as ‘disposable’ therefore what possible chance is there that those that need to get behind the plough will care to do so?
This has been going on for so long now, Yes push for change, but be ready to accept the inevitable - it’s not in my backyard - you do it..
